Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward announce MW3 Content Collection 2

Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward have today announced the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection 2.

The new DLC contains 3 new multiplayer maps, 2 new Spec Ops missions and 4 maps for the brand new “Face Off” mode.

The first of the three multiplayer maps is “Oasis”, which is set in the heat-bearing coastline of the United Arab Emirates. The second is “Sanctuary”, based around the old, dark monasteries of Greece. Finally, there is “Foundation”, a South Korean cement factory.

The first of the Spec Ops missions is called “Iron Clade”. This missions takes you back to the campaign and the “Goalpost” missions, The SAS have been sent in with Delta to escort out the last tank division from an extraction point. It is mainly a two player map where the first player is allowed to drive the tank, whilst the second plants C4 in order to clear a path for the tank.

The second is “Kill Switch”, set in the industrial areas of Russia. There is one player, who is on the ground, and a second, who is in a building, sniping off opponents. The first player has to make their way through a whole are of soldiers, trying to get to the point where he can set off an EMP. The second players helps, with his high viewpoint, and eventually get to call in a helicopter at the end of the mission.

The new mode, “Face Off”, is very similar to normal multiplayer, however, it is meant to get you into the action much quicker. The games are primarily 1-v-1 or 2-v-2, and the maps are made to be small, compact areas, where you don’t have to run to far in order to find someone. It trys to keep the frantic gun-play we know from Call of Duty, whilst restricting the teams to 1 or 2 players. The maps are designed so that they are small, however, still able to hold a sniper, so that one play can stay put, whilst the other is on the move.

The first map is “Aground”, based on a ship on the shore of Scotland. Secondly, there is “Erosion”, set on the coasts of Italy. “Lookout” is based on the tall, treacherous hills of Afghanistan. Finally, there is “Getaway”, set in a futuristic, stylish house, on the shores of Brazil.

The Content Collection 2 will be released on 15th May, for ELITE subscribers on the Xbox, and for everyone else on the Xbox on 22nd May. The dates for the PlayStation 3 and PC releases have not been announced yet. However, on 15th May, Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward will be releasing two “Face Off” maps for the Xbox, for free.
